Then he's pegged as the #1 suspect in a murder. And if that weren't enough, now he's depending on Hartley to clear his name. Seriously? Not cool. But as much as Hartley wouldn't mind seeing him squirm, she knows he's innocent, and she's the only one who can help him. Along with her best friend, Sam, and the school's resident Bad Boy, Chase, Hartley starts investigating on her own. But as the dead bodies begin to pile up, the mystery deepens, the suspects multiply, and Hartley begins to fear that she may be the killer's next victim.

Waiting on Wednesday #20 {All These Things I've Done}

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
From Goodreads:
In 2083, chocolate and coffee are illegal, paper is hard to find, water is carefully rationed, and New York City is rife with crime and poverty. And yet, for Anya Balanchine, the sixteen-year-old daughter of the city's most notorious (and dead) crime boss, life is fairly routine. It consists of going to school, taking care of her siblings and her dying grandmother, trying to avoid falling in love with the new assistant D.A.'s son, and avoiding her loser ex-boyfriend. That is until her ex is accidently poisoned by the chocolate her family manufactures and the police think she's to blame. Suddenly, Anya finds herself thrust unwillingly into the spotlight—at school, in the news, and most importantly, within her mafia family.
Why Yani is Waiting on It:
Dystopian/Mafia-esque/Romeo and Juliet type thing going on here and it sounds really intereting! Plus I have read Garbielle's other work and have really liked it. READ Elsewhere! I really enjoyed that one and thought it was so different.

Waiting on Wednesday #19 {Stay With Me}

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
From Goodreads:
An urban romance that will capture your soul, break your heart, and restore your faith in the human spirit

Fifteen-year-olds Cece and Mack didn't expect to fall in love. She's a sensitive A student; he's a high school dropout. But soon they're spending every moment together, bonding over a rescued dog, telling their secrets, making plans for the future. Everything is perfect. Until. Until. Mack makes a horrible mistake, and in just a few minutes, the future they'd planned becomes impossible. In this stark new reality, both of them must find meaning and hope in the memories of what they had, to survive when the person they love can't stay.

From award-winning writer Paul Griffin, Stay with Me is both heartbreaking and uplifting, filled with characters (both dog and human) that will forever change the way you look at the world
Why Yani is Waiting on It: I am not sure what about this book struck me. I don't really appreciate the cover, other the than the doggy (hello cutie!), but this book seems like one of the REAL contemporary works. Not fluffy or cute, just REAL... can't wait to see if anyone gets an advance copy for review!

Waiting on Wednesday #18

This weeks pick is.... The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith!

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.

From Goodreads:
Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18B. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

Waiting on Wednesday:
Lola and the Boy Next Door

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
From Goodreads:

In this companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss, two teens discover that true love may be closer than they think
For budding costume designer Lola Nolan, the more outrageous, the outfit - more sparkly, more fun, more wild - the better. But even though Lola's style is outrageous, she's a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins move back into the house next door.
When the family returns and Cricket - a gifted inventor and engineer - steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Why Yani is Waiting on It:DUH because its LOLA!! I am sooo jealous of all the people that got this at BEA, but at the same time the anticipation is making me that much more excited to read it. And it comes at a perfect time where I will be on break because I will be done with school but not working full time yet.

Waiting on Wednesday:
As I Wake by Elizabeth Scott

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
From Goodreads:
What if you woke up and didn't know where you were?

What if you didn't know who you were?

And what if, when your memories started to come back--what if they didn't match the you that you're supposed to be?

Ava is welcomed home from the hospital by a doting mother, lively friends, and a crush finally beginning to show interest. There's only one problem: Ava can't remember any of them--and can't shake the eerie feeling that she's not who they say she is.

Ava struggles to break through her amnesiac haze as she goes through the motions of high-school life, but the memories that surface take place in a very different world, where Ava and familiar-faced friends are under constant scrutiny and no one can be trusted. Ava doesn't know what to make of these visions, or of the boy who is at the center of them all, until he reappears in her life and offers answers . . . but only in exchange for her trust.

Why Yani is Waiting on It: Its Elizabeth Scott Week and with that I thought I would pick a book of hers I haven't read. The only one left is this one coming out in Sept! I really love her books and this one seems super interesting!!

Waiting on Wednesday # 1 5

Waiting on Wednesday:
Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
From Goodreads:
Lenzi hears voices. She also sees visions--gravestones, floods, a gorgeous guy with steel gray eyes. She knows she must be going crazy, just like her dad did. Her boyfriend, Zak, can't do anything to help, and the voices just keep getting louder, the visions more intense. But when Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, everything makes sense.

Sort of.

He tells Lenzi that she's a reincarnated Speaker--someone who can talk to lost souls and help them move on--and that he has been her Protector for centuries. But instead of embracing her abilities, Lenzi struggles between her life as the girlfriend of a sexy musician and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. Yet time is running out; a malevolent spirit has been trying to destroy Lenzi for ages, and he will surely kill her if she doesn't make a decision soon.

Her choices are clear: Destiny or normalcy. Alden or Zak. Life or death.

Why Yani is Waiting on It: I have been reading about this book on different blogs and it sounds super intriguing! Also, hello gorgeous cover. I hope it will live up to my expectations =)

Waiting on Wednesday # 1 4

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
From Goodreads:
Most high school sports teams have rivalries with other schools. At Hamilton High, it's a civil war: the football team versus the soccer team. And for her part,Lissa is sick of it. Her quarterback boyfriend, Randy, is always ditching her to go pick a fight with the soccer team or to prank their locker room. And on three separate occasions Randy's car has been egged while he and Lissa were inside, making out. She is done competing with a bunch of sweaty boys for her own boyfriend's attention

Then Lissa decides to end the rivalry once and for all: She and the other players' girlfriends go on a hookup strike. The boys won't get any action from them until the football and soccer teams make peace. What they don't count on is a new sort of rivalry: an impossible girls-against-boys showdown that hinges on who will cave to their libidos first. But what Lissa never sees coming is her own sexual tension with the leader of the boys, Cash Sterling...

Why Yani is Waiting on It: I really really loved The D.u.f.f. and I can't wait to see whats going to come from Kody's second novel. I am hoping to score a copy of this at BEA, but if not I will be anxiously waiting for its release date.

Why Jude is Waiting on It: Wow! this sounds Original! - the boy vs girl may not be too original but, where the story seems to unravel, just looks great and fun :).

Waiting on Wednesday # 1 3

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
From Goodreads:

Tonight was so much worse than anything before it. Tonight he didn't stop after the first slap.
At the beginning of senior year, Ann was a smiling, straight-A student and track star with friends and a future. Then she met a haunted young man named Connor. Only she can heal his emotional scars; only he could make her feel so loved — and needed. Ann can't recall the pivotal moment it all changed, when she surrendered everything to be with him, but by graduation, her life has become a dangerous high wire act. Just one mistake could trigger Connor's rage, a senseless storm of cruel words and violence damaging everything — and everyone — in its path.

This evocative slideshow of flashbacks reveals a heartbreaking story of love gone terribly wrong.

Why Yani is Waiting on It: The title is just so real. So many girls use that excuse to stay with the wrong guy. I can tell its going to be a gripping and emotional book and one I just can't wait to read.

Why Jude is Waiting on It: I really can't wait for this one to come out. I haven't encountered that many books that touch this subject, and I really want to see what this book has to offer, it seems intense and beautiful :)).

Waiting on Wednesday #10

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.

Divergent by Veronica Roth
From Goodreads:
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
This week, the first 100 pages of Divergent was posted online here. I began reading it and was immediately obsessed with this world and the craziness of the factions. I was so sucked into it when the 100 page came I was upset that I could not continue the story. I think I would do anything to get my hands on an ARC of this book.

Waiting on Wednesday #9

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.

From Goodreads:
It's been two years since Conrad told Belly to go with Jeremiah. She and Jeremiah have been inseparable ever since, even attending the same college-- only, their relationship hasn't exactly been the happily ever after Belly had hoped it would be. And when Jeremiah makes the worst mistake a boy can make, Belly is forced to question what she thought was true love. Does she really have a future with Jeremiah? Has she ever gotten over Conrad? It's time for Belly to decide, once and for all, who has her heart forever.
So I tried reading the first book, The Summer I Turned Pretty in 2009 when it first came out and never really got into it. But Ginger over at GReads keeps raving about this book and we have similar tastes, so I picked it up again. I read the first and second book from 10:00pm last night till 1:00pm today with a little break in between for some sleep. Now I can't wait to read the last in the series. This is the one love triangle that I actually really love both boys!!

Luckily I got an early copy of this book so look for the review by the end of this week!

Waiting on Wednesday #6

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.

From Goodreads:
Sixteen-year-old Laurel's world changes instantly when her parents and brother are killed in a terrible car accident. Behind the wheel is the father of her bad-boy neighbor, David Kaufman, whose mother is also killed. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Laurel navigates a new world in which she and her best friend grow apart, boys may or may not be approaching her out of pity, overpowering memories lurk everywhere, and Mr. Kaufman is comatose but still very much alive. Through it all, there is David, who swoops in and out of Laurel's life and to whom she finds herself attracted against her better judgment. She will forever be connected to him by their mutual loss, a connection that will change them both in unexpected ways.

Jennifer Castle’s debut novel is a heart wrenching, surprisingly witty testament to how drastically life can change in the span of a single moment

Before I left on vacation, I just wanted to do one more post and then I saw Lori at Pure Imagination's WOW and I was immediately drawn to this book. It's definitely something I would love, I can just tell.

Waiting on Wednesday #4

WOW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.

From Goodreads:

After being sent back from the light, Alona Dare - former homecoming queen, current Queen of the Dead - finds herself doing something she never expected: working. Instead of spending days perfecting her tan by the pool (her typical summer routine when she was, you know, alive), Alona must now cater to the needs of other lost spirits. By her side for all of this - ugh - “helping of others” is Will Killian: social outcast, seer of the dead, and someone Alona cares about more than she’d like.

Before Alona can make a final ruling on Will’s “friend” or “more” status, though, she discovers trouble at home. Her mom is tossing out Alona’s most valuable possessions, and her dad is expecting a new daughter with his wicked wife. Is it possible her family is already moving on? Hello! She’s only been dead for two months! Thankfully, Alona knows just the guy who can put a stop to this mess.

Unfortunately for Alona, Will has other stuff on his mind, and Mina, a young (and beautiful) seer, is at the top of the list. She’s the first ghost-talker Will’s ever met—aside from his father—and she may hold answers to Will’s troubled past. But can she be trusted? Alona immediately puts a check mark in the “clearly not” column. But Will is - ahem - willing to find out, even if it means leaving a hurt and angry Alona to her own devices, which is never a good idea.

Packed with romance, lovable characters, and a killer cliffhanger, Queen of the Dead is the out-of-this-world sequel to The Ghost and the Goth.

I just finished reading the first in this series the Ghost and the Goth and I LOVED it. It reminds me of Meg Cabot's Mediator series with a little more sass. Can't wait for this book coming out: June 7, 2011.
